ATTACHMENT SYSTEM
Madico has 3 attachment systems that better secure safety filmed glass to the window frame increasing the level of protection.
Daylight or conventional installation is when the film is cut along the window frame or glass gasket. Leaving a small light gap barely seen when using clear films. This type of installation improves safety and security to unprotected glass, adding strength and impact resistance.
To greatly increase performance, glass and film to frame attachment can be added. Ideal for forced entry, smash and grab, and glass breakage caused by weather, vandalism or blast.
GullWing
The Madico patented flexible “L” shaped gasket can be installed over existing safety film or to newly installed film. GullWing installs quickly and has a nice finished appearance. Installation requires minimal office interference.
WetGlaze
This attachment is used by many installers who do not have access to GullWing. Installers must be highly trained. A special Dow Corning caulk is used to create a large 1/2″ x 1/2″ by 1” or larger diagonal bead. This product can be messy, stains, smears and requires a long drying period. Future glass replacement is more expensive and time consuming removing WetGlaze.
Both GullWing and WetGlaze provide the same level of protection. Either cannot be installed at the time of film installation. An approximate 21 day drying time is required.
FrameGard
Madico’s patented FrameGard attachment systems offers the highest level of protection for windows. Safety film is applied to the glass then carried over onto the frame. The 1 1/2″ FrameGard aluminum base is then tape adhered to the overlapped film and secured to the frame with screws. The color matching cap then finishes the installation. FrameGard blends in and looks like part of the window system and not an added mass of caulk.
